Lipstick Queen

Posted by Eric Muntz

A few weekends ago I was in the living room with Ona.  She started playing by herself really well.  A few minutes went by and I looked over at her.  She smiled up at me and then turned back to whatever she was playing with.  A few more minutes went by and I looked over again.  This time, she smiled back with a face and handful of lipstick.  She had dug out my favorite lipstick and applied it on her face, hands, pjs, and the door.  She was so cute.

Sushi

Ona ate sushi for the first time and liked it.  It was a cucumber roll, but she spit out the cucumber.  Thank you Ru San’s for pretending to like our messy kid:)

Watch out boys

Posted by Eric Muntz

Have I mentioned that Ona rocks lately?  Well, she does.  Today I took her to the park and there's a half rock wall.  A little boy climbed up it while she watched.  I asked his mom, "how old is he?"  Turns out he's 8 months older than Ona.  I said, "I can't wait until she's that confident."  After he was finished she walked up the to wall.  She needed me to put her feet in the right place, but then she'd put herself up and grad the next rock.  She went all the way up.  I was so proud.  The little boy and his mom had moved on and it took everything in me not to hunt them down and tell them.  What do they care, but I was so excited!!  Tomorrow Eric and I are taking Ona to a My Gym class.

Walking!!

Posted by Eric Muntz

Watch out Milli and other small animals!  Ona is walking!!  Now at home and daycare.  More than walking, she's enjoying the power of words.  Her new favorite word is "up," short for 'pick me up suckers.'  The other night we hung out with Tom and Rachel and she repeatedly told Tom "up" to get to sit up on the couch next to him.  She was so pleased when he complied:)

We're looking forward to going to DC before Christmas.  DC at Christmas is very special and I can't wait to share it with Ona and catch up with all the DC folks.  Yeah:)

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving:

Feeling Patriotic

Posted by Eric Muntz

Today were speeches for school officers at the elementary school I work at.  I haven't felt this inspired in a while with promises of more ice cream, school dances, and cleaner hallways:)  Haha, no really.  To hear these kids speak passionately about things that are important to them was very moving.  One student running for V-P said something that brought me to tears.  He had students raise their hands if they thought they were the BEST students.  Then he had teachers raise their hands if they thought they were the best teachers they could be.  Then he said, "you may not be THE best, but I'm going to help you be YOUR best."  OMG.  Watch out Chelsea Clinton--your competition is coming!

Playin in the dirt-Friday the weather was nice and cool so we played on the deck a while. Ona "helped" me water the plants. I think she misunderstood feeding the plants:) Mmm, dirt...

But I don't want a party:(

Posted by Eric Muntz

As if it wasn't already official, Ona is just like her daddy and is doing everything she can to get out of a birthday party.  We canceled 2 and didn't even officially notify everyone of the 3rd before it was canceled too.  It seems our house is the revolving door for sickness and then this week Grandma Vera, Eric's grandma, and Grandma Allen, my grandma were admitted to St. Joseph's.  Eric's grandma had her appendix out and is recovering well.  Grandma Allen is being monitored for her cardiac function, but looks good too.  So, no party this weekend either.  Here are some pictures from her actual birthday even though we all had the plague.

(Ok, I'm cheating.  She isn't holding up the finger in response to "how old are you?"  She's just really into pointing.

She had so much fun playing with the tissue!!

Ona is thriving at school.  Her teachers are now reporting she was perfect and are very impressed with her appetite and chewing skills.  A few weeks ago, Ms. Dennis said she figured out how to keep Ona happy all day....feed her until she gets sleepy.  That just cracks me up.  Every day she takes a green, frog blanket/stuffed animal from Kirsten.  It has helped her stay in her crib "nicely" during nap time.

When I pick her up, I walk through an older classroom (18 months-2 yearsish).  Every time it melts my heart to hear the kids say, "bye Ona."  It's the cutest thing ever.  Ona says "bu-bye" in response about the time we're getting in the car.

It's been a tough week for some people we love.  I don't know what to say other than we love you and wish we could take all the pain away.  Thinking of you..

Two steps forward

Posted by Eric Muntz

This weekend Ona climbed up 2 stairs.  Today she climbed up 12.  Needless to say we're going to have to buy a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs soon.

Ona is doing so great.  She's standing more and letting go.  She's also playing really well.  We moved some furniture in the house around so the sunroom is all play toys.  She loves playing in there or going outside to swing.  Here she is "riding" her bike....really Eric and I have to push it around the house.

A few weeks ago we celebrated Ken, aka Big Papa's birthday.  Donna threw a surprise party where people got up to roast or toast Ken.  Ona LOVED it.  She was so social.  The only problem is that when people got on mike, she would yell "ahh."  Actually she's doing that a lot lately.  Like if we're shopping and she wants someone to talk to her, she'll look at them and yell "ahhh."  It's one of my new favorite things she does.

Mama's little helper:  She's also been cracking me up because she's so much more interested in household chores.  She really likes to bang on the dishwasher, watch the laundry spin, and use the vacuum cleaner as her walker (notice the effort on her face!).  It cracks me up.

Father's Day and Lake with Josh, Christy and Ellie

Posted by Eric Muntz

For Father's Day, Ona wore a shirt that said, "I love my Daddy-O" with a picture of the 2 of them on it.  Then this week Eric will take a golf lesson and play a round this weekend.  We didn't do the whole golf thing this weekend , b/c we went to the lake with Josh and Christy.

The lake was very relaxing and fun.  It was so cute to see the girls play together.  Ellie is running like a champ, but several times would get down on the floor and crawl around with Ona.  Very sweet.

Ellie would trade toys with Ona.  Ona followed Ellie all around the house.

Here-Ellie is holding on to Ona's stroller on a walk.

Ona went swimming for the very first time.  She was a champ.  No crying just having fun in the sun.  She didn't even mind me slathering her in sunscreen...even when it was cloudy.

FAMILY CELEBRATION-On Friday, we dined at the March of Dimes Dining Out Event.  It gave us an opportunity to give back to an organization who helped us in a time of need, celebrate Ona's health, thank our family for all their help and support, and eat some good food.  We dined at the Sundial where they served a different wine with each course.  Our grandmothers LOVED it!!  Thank you to everyone for your love and support over the last year.  The bad times were really bad, but the good times were amazing.  We are so grateful!

My sister Amy, Dad, Mom, me, Eric (baby daddy, ha!), Donna (Eric's mom), John (my bro), My Grandma, and Eric's Grandma.

Baby Talk

Posted by Eric Muntz

Ona is talking so much.  I don't know if it's b/c I'm her mama or an SLP, but it's amazing.  She says Mama, Dada, Ca(t), and Du(ck) independently.  She won't say them when asked 'who's that?' though.  She's also repeating alot.  Yesterday Eric called Ken and told Ona he was calling her Big Papa.  Ona responded, "Papapa..."  I love hearing her little voice!
